Why you should be excited about ‘A Different World’ sequel series

The renowned ‘90s sitcom, A Different World, is returning with just what you didn’t know you needed: a sequel series on Netflix, focusing on Deborah Wayne, the youngest daughter of Hillman College’s finest, Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert.

The comedy series has begun production in Atlanta, and it will follow the lives and loves of a new generation at Hillman College. Felicia Pride, best known for her works in Grey’s Anatomy and Bel-Air, serves as showrunner and executive producer for the A Different World sequel series.

“It is such an honour to be a part of bringing back this iconic show, one that I grew up on and which had a profound impact on my life,” says Pride to Tudum. “I am so proud of the work we’re doing to reimagine A Different World for beloved fans and new generations alike.”

In addition to Pride, the original series director Debbie Allen, who produced 122 episodes and directed 83 during the original run, will serve as an executive producer and will direct three episodes, including the first.
