Where was ‘Wednesday’ season two shot?

When Wednesday creators teased twice the goth in the second season, they meant the full package. Not just themes, characters, or story arcs.

The goth was packed even in the locale and the visuals. So, for those curious about the real-life whereabouts of Wednesday Addams’ creepy footprints, they’re sprinkled throughout Ireland.

The first season saw Netflix creators opting for Romania, Dracula’s home. And for the second, they chose the home of Dracula’s creator, Bram Stoker. Speaking of their destination pick, Miles Millar explained, “Everything about Ireland fits the sensibility of the show” (via Tudum). From the lush woods to the majestic castles, from the grounded greens to the sky-high greys – everything made perfect sense.

Even though Wednesday season two was shot in summer, Millar recalled a few chilly nights that looked just “fantastic.” Principal photography began in May 2024. It continued for six months, mainly at Ashford Studios in County Wicklow, Ireland. They were also shot across other locations in Dublin, County Offaly, and County Wicklow.

While the show is set in Vermont, the play of light in Ireland “makes it feel more aesthetically like a Tim Burton setting.” And one of the main characters this season was the forests. The most important being the one around Nevermore. Charleville Castle in County Offaly serves as the gothic fortress in season two. Although that was easy, recreating the gates became a challenge since the original was in Romania.

They found perfect imagery in a private estate in Roundwood. Meanwhile, Wednesday used several locations to bring together the Nevermore Cemetery, including the Powerscourt Estate’s gardens and redwoods, an old school building at Clermont, and Deansgrange Cemetery.

In episode three, the field trip to Camp Jericho campground takes place in an outdoor set by the Powerscourt Waterfall. And that alone took three months of preparation. As for the Willow Hill asylum, the scenes were filmed at Clonliffe College, an old priest training college in Drumcondra.

While the second part of Wednesday season two might take viewers to places they haven’t been before, for now, you can spot all these locations in the first part, currently streaming on Netflix.
