The most recent batch of episodes of Squid Game: The Challenge dropped on Netflix on Wednesday (November 29th), and now fans of the South Korean reality show are questioning when the series finale will be released.
Based on the hit thriller TV show Squid Game, the competition series has 456 people compete in a set of games and challenges inspired by the original show for the chance to win $4.56m in cash.
That makes the prize of Squid Game: The Challenge the largest lump-sum of prize money in reality TV’s history.
The first five episodes arrived on Netflix on November 22nd and saw the show take the number one spot on the most streamed list in both the UK and the US. Prior to the most recent episodes dropping, there were just 63 contestants remaining.
Episode six, titled ‘Goodbye’, had the remaining contestants battle against one another in a game of marbles, which left 32 remaining. After completing all nine episodes currently available, audiences will have to wait until December 6th to see the winner crowned.
In the thriller series, contestants are shot when they are eliminated from the game, but in the reality show, an ink packet explodes inside their t-shirt to simulate the same effect.
