What you need to know about the Japanese crime drama, ‘Tagusari Bros,’ coming to Netflix
Netflix has been securing international streaming rights to foreign dramas left and right in 2026, and the next in its lineup is a Japanese crime drama, Tagusari Bros.
While Netflix has many other Japanese titles to look forward to this year, if you’ve been on the lookout for a deeply personal crime thriller on Netflix, your prayers have been heard.
Originally airing as a prime-time “Friday Drama” on Japan’s TBS network, the 10-episode gritty thriller is heading to Netflix in the US and most international territories this April.
So, if you’re craving a suspenseful, slow-burning mystery to occupy your upcoming days with, here’s a rundown of everything you should know about Tagusari Bros, coming to Netflix weekly.
What is the plot?
According to the official TBS website, Tagusari Bros, the forthcoming Japanese crime drama, follows the eponymous brothers whose parents were brutally killed years ago. Cut to April 27th, 2010, Japan abolishes the statute of limitations for murder. Although the day was supposed to be one where Makoto and Minoru could have finally rekindled their hope for impending justice, in a cruel twist of fate, the statute of limitations on their parents’ case just hit the expiry date two days ago.
With the perpetrator no longer a fugitive in the eyes of the law, the Tagusari brothers have no choice but to take the course of justice into their own hands. They enrol themselves in law enforcement to strengthen their force from the inside. While at it, the duo must grapple with the daily task of solving impossible crimes in the present, all while secretly plotting to take down the elusive mastermind who upended their family years ago.
Who is in the cast and crew?
Tagusari Bros’ cast is absolutely star-studded with Masaki Okada portraying the older brother, Makoto, and Shot Sometani playing the younger one, Minoru. The supporting ensemble includes Haruka Igawa, Ayami Nakajo, Goro Kishitani, Kaito Miyachika, and Hitomi Kuroki.
Kei Watanabe has written the script of the Japanese drama directed by Takeyoshi Yamamoto. The series will also feature a fresh original theme song titled ‘Ai Ai,’ by singer-songwriter Naotaro Moriyama.
