What to expect from George Clooney and Adam Sandler’s new Netflix movie, ‘Jay Kelly’?

Netflix has roped in the North Stars of Tinseltown, George Clooney and Adam Sandler, for a coming-of-age comedy drama, Jay Kelly. And most recently, the streaming giant dropped a trailer to tease what’s to come on the coattails of these Hollywood heroes. While Netflix has never had any shortage of star appeal, the anticipation is clearly through the roof this time around.

Coming from director Noah Baumbach, the upcoming movie follows a popular movie star, Jay Kelly, portrayed by Clooney, and his dedicated manager, Ron, played by Sandler. Jay Kelly revolves around both their journeys across Europe, where they are made to confront their choices, their relationships, and the legacies they’ll leave in the years to come.

The ensemble cast includes Hollywood bigwigs like Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Riley Keough, Grace Edwards, Greta Gerwig, Alba Rohrwacher, Josh Hamilton, and Charlie Rowe, among others. Baumbach has co-written the script with Emily Mortimer, and Jay Kelly is slated for its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival before playing at other fall fests.

Jay Kelly is the second feature from Baumbach’s multi-year deal with Netflix, having adapted the Don DeLillo novel, White Noise, before this. But what can we expect from this upcoming Netflix film?

What to expect from Jay Kelly?

The one-and-a-half-minute-long teaser trailer of Jay Kelly was enough of a hint that fans are about to join George Clooney and Adam Sandler on an emotionally nuanced road-trip dramedy. But both will bring some deeply personal roles to the screen.

With Noah Baumbach’s focus on introspection, Jay Kelly will tackle themes like fame, ageing, regret, and friendship against a picturesque European backdrop. So, in case fans are confused about how to prepare themselves for what’s next on Netflix, the best way out is to sit tight and let Clooney and Sandler spill their magic on-screen.

Fans can expect a poignant drama balanced with sardonic humour, something that’s light-hearted but also deeply impactful. They can catch up with Jay Kelly in select theatres, November 14th onwards. It will be released on Netflix on December 5th.
