What can we hope for ‘Alice in Borderland’ season three

After two mind-bending seasons, Alice in Borderland is ready to pull us back into its twisted world on Netflix. The official teaser for season three has just landed, confirming a September 25th release, and fans are already decoding every frame. From the return of the Joker card to the unsettling tone of the teaser, it is clear this next chapter will not just raise the stakes; it might completely flip the game.

The biggest question is, of course, about the Joker. Season two ended with what looked like an escape into reality, but that card hinted otherwise.

In the teaser, Arisu and Usagi seem happy at first, but their peace is shattered when she vanishes. He finds the Joker again, suggesting that this so-called reality might just be another level. If the show leans into this idea, we are heading deeper into a psychological territory beyond what we have witnessed before.

There is also hope for deeper character arcs. Chishiya’s cool detachment and Kuina’s resilience have made them fan favourites. Season three has the opportunity to either break them down or push them to darker, more complex places. The show has never been about survival alone. It is about who these people become when they are forced to confront parts of themselves they never wanted to face.

Some fans believe the show might draw from the manga sequel, Alice in Borderland: Retry, where Arisu and Usagi are married and once again dragged into danger.

If this angle plays out, the season could become less about death games and more about emotional consequences. Love, loss, and memory might drive the plot more than cards and carnage.

More than anything, there is hope that season three will go beyond spectacle. We want clever games, yes, but also meaning. We want to feel something. And if Alice in Borderland has taught us anything, it is that the scariest games are the ones we do not even know we are playing.
