Watch this fan favourite Keanu Reeves film on Netflix

Although spooky season is officially over, it is never too late to dive into some terrifying content, especially if it features the widely adored Keanu Reeves. One of the actor’s most popular films has come to Netflix and we cannot keep calm.

Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula is a hypnotic film filled with erotic surrealism and it is now streaming on the platform. The film has always been a fan favourite with Coppola aficionados.

Coppola’s 1992 film was an extravagant yet faithful adaptation of the source material that saw Gary Oldman as the titular Count Dracula, with his long nails, haggard appearance and puffed hair.

Peculiar and standoffish, Oldman’s comical performance is however in contrast to the eeriness he manages to manifest in the film via his performance, often employing a dangerously low octave to make himself sound more sinister as the lovelorn Dracula.

Dracula is an undead hapless lover whose tryst with the aeons of time brings him to the present as he looks for his wife Mina who turns out to be his solicitor’s intended lover.

Vowing to woo back his long-lost love, he does not shy away from indulging in frenzied bloodshed in the process. Steeped in gothic horror, this operatic tale of love and loss is a testament to Dracula’s undying love. Oldman’s performance as the claustrophobic Count is overwhelming.

Reeves played the solicitor, Jonathan Harker, Mina’s betrothed, and the man who visits the count and gets caught up in his world of erotic madness. Reeves had been a questionable casting choice due to his garish accent but all’s well that ends well!

In the end, Reeves’ performance gained him a massive cult-like following. The cast also included Winona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins and more in distinct roles.
