With several acting credits to her name, Julianne Moore is a prominent figure in the Hollywood film industry. This talented actress was a part of an erotic thriller film in 2009 that is now streaming on Netflix and demands your unhinged attention.
A remake of the 2003 French film, Nathalie…, Atom Egoyan’s 2009 film Chloe stars Liam Neeson and Amanda Seyfried in lead roles besides Moore. A massive commercial success, this thriller is a brilliant exploration of dwindling marriages, illicit relationships, coital problems, insecurities and more.
The film revolves around Moore and Neeson being a middle-aged couple who have seemingly lost the spark in their marriage and sex lives. To test her husband’s loyalty, Moore employs an escort, played by Seyfried. Ironically, her husband is the only person the escort does not sleep with within the film.
However, the young girl soon develops feelings for the older woman. A little unhinged, she refuses to stop at anything to achieve her goal of wooing her.
With palpable sexual tension, an abundance of raunchy scenes and a dangerous descent into the dark world of lust and violence, the film is nothing like the ones Moore is typically seen in.
Anne Fontaine, the director of Nathalie…, was pretty unhappy with her film. However, she was pleased with Egoyan’s take on the same.
The film was based on Erin Cressida Wilson’s screenplay that infused the intense emotions of love and attraction within a sensual plot. Wilson had previously worked on the script of the 2002 Maggie Gyllenhaal erotic film, Secretary.
The film featured plenty of steamy scenes, and Julianne Moore had praised Seyfried for being “very dependable”, talking about how the latter did not make the intimate scenes awkward.
