Netflix has released the official trailer for the upcoming Second World War thriller film Munich: The Edge of War. The film debuted earlier in 2021 at the London Film Festival.

Based on Robert Harris’ novel, the film will be set in the fall of 1938, just a year before the commencement of the Second World War.

With Europe on the verge of breaking out into war, Adolf Hitler is seen preparing viciously to invade Czechoslovakia while Neville Chamberlain’s government desperately scuttles to find a peaceful solution in their best interests.

With increasing pressure, two old friends,  the British civil servant Hugh Legat and the German diplomat Paul von Hartmann, travel to Munich to attend an emergency Conference.

Amidst negotiations, high-strung political tension and conflict, they find themselves entangled in the same. In a riveting premise, the two struggle to stop the war and initiate peace treaties, but at what cost?

Directed by Christian Schwochow from Ben Powers’ adaptation, the film stars  Award-winning actor Jeremy Irons, Jessica Brown Findlay, George MacKay, Jannis Niewohner, August Diehl and Sandra Huller in pivotal roles.

The film is slated to release in select theatres on January 7th, 2022, while it will premiere on Netflix on January 21st, 2022.
