The next instalment of the film extension of Downton Abey is just around the corner and the film’s creators have shared a brand new trailer to wet our whistle.
The latest edition in the Crawley saga sees Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, and Jim Carter all returning to their roles. It’s the family’s second film and it would appear they’ve not lost an ounce of their sparkle.
The plot for Downton Abbey: A New Era remains a closely guarded secret. But, what we do know is that the sequel will follow the original film chronologically. The first feature saw the Crawley household in preparation for a visit by King George V and Queen Mary.
For those worried about the health of Violet Crawley, played by Maggie Smith, then rest assured she will at least make some kind of an appearance, having ended the previous film with a terminal illness.
Julian Fellowes, the show creator, previously called the new film an “unashamedly feel-good movie,” which will have fans very excited indeed. Newly added to the cast are Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye, and Dominic West.
“It’s really a new era,” Fellowes told People. “The further the ’20s went along, the more the world was changing in so many ways. Everything from entertainment to transport was really different by the end of the ’20s. That’s what we’re referring to in that.”
