Watch the Netflix trailer for the Pete Davidson film ‘Marmaduke’

Pete Davidson is currently the centre of Kanye West-Kim Kardashian controversy. Well-known for his hard-hitting, dark jokes, Davidson will now be seen voicing the titular character in the upcoming Netflix animated film Marmaduke

Marmaduke is based on a popular 1954 newspaper comic strip created by Brad Anderson that revolved around a Great Dane called Marmaduke and his family as well as their escapades. The comic strip, which still continues to this day, was adapted into a 2010 feature film that starred Owen Wilson, George Lopez, Ema Stone and others.

Although the Netflix animated film was supposed to release in 2020, the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic pushed back the dates.

The animated flick has been directed by Mark A.Z. Dippe, Youngki Lee and Matt Philip Whelan.

Marmaduke revolves around an overgrown Great Dane who is mischievous and greedy for food yet extremely loyal to his family. To prove his calibre, Marmaduke finds himself in a world of distinguished dog shows, elite diva dogs, amusing enmities and rivalries.

While Pete Davidson is voicing Marmaduke, J.J. Simmons will be seen as Zeus, Shelby Young as Shantrelle, Erin Fitzgerald as Barbara, David Koechner as Phil and Julie Nathanson as Dottie.

Other voice actors include Stephen Stanton, Tania Gunadi, Terri Douglas, Brian Hull and Andrew Morgado.

Marmaduke will release on Netflix on May 6th, 2022.
