The first full trailer for the sequel to 2018’s Bird Box, titled Bird Box Barcelona, has been released by Netflix.
Hitting the streaming service on July 14th, the new Spanish movie will be directed by David Pastor and Àlex Pastor, who both previously worked on post-apocalyptic thrillers The Last Days in 2013 and Carriers in 2009. Set in the same universe as the 2018 original, which became a viral sensation upon its release, the new film will star the likes of Naila Schuberth, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Mario Casas, Georgina Campbell, Gonzalo de Castro and Michelle Jenner.
2018’s Bird Box was based on the novel of the same name by Josh Malerman and was set in a world where an unknown force has wiped out the human race, forcing anyone who sets eyes on the mysterious entity to kill themselves.
Starring the likes of Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes and John Malkovich, the film led to the creation of the infamous ‘Bird Box Challenge’ that went viral online.
The new movie will be led by Georgina Campbell, who most recently excelled in the subversive 2022 horror film Barbarian, directed by Zach Cregger.
