Like every other month, August also awaits an exceptional arrival arc on Netflix. However, amidst the rush of fresh arrivals, subscribers mustn’t miss out on departures, which most notably include Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy.

Raimi’s superhero trilogy comprising Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man 3 is currently counting its final days on Netflix.

Since the rights to the Spider-Man trilogy are owned by Sony Pictures, its availability on Netflix is bound by a fixed-term licensing contract between the studio and the streamer. As it is, the license window is about to close on August 6th, meaning you’re officially on the clock as well if you were putting the fan-favourites off for a later watch all along.

As none of us really know where the early-2000s trilogy will exactly end up after Netflix and when, there’s absolutely no excuse good enough to let this reminder go wasted.

Although this can cause panic or simply stir a sense of urgency, it’s always better than saving room for regrets. Because even if Netflix considers bringing back Raimi’s blockbuster Spider-Man trilogy, the nooks and crannies of licensing agreements may not always be in your favour. For instance, the contracts are typically negotiated on a region-by-region basis. So, the next time may not always apply to you.

And considering the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man: A Brand-New Day is just days down the line, Raimi’s trilogy starring the iconic Tobey Maguire doesn’t only hit home; it feeds into nostalgia.

It’s important to note that while the MCU may dominate the box office, Raimi’s trilogy carved a legacy in the comic book adaptation sphere, making youngsters fall in love with the character and the deeply emotional blockbusters. In fact, Spider-Man 2 is still widely regarded as one of the greatest superhero films ever made, blending stylised action with a deeply human story about sacrifice and burnout.

While Maguire’s Peter Parker lives rent-free in fans’ heads for his earnest, awkward, and charming portrayal of the heroic wall crawler, the trilogy is equally famous for featuring masterclass villains from William Dafoe’s Green Goblin to Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus.
