Watch Netflix’s trailer for new Korean series 'Hellbound'

Netflix has released the final trailer for the upcoming supernatural horror series Hellbound, helmed by the acclaimed Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho.

Sang-Ho has collaborated with Netflix on various projects before. After his widely acclaimed film, which saw a father’s relentless pursuit to shield his daughter from the adversities amidst a raging zombie apocalypse, garnered Sang-ho massive fame, the Korean filmmaker made Psychokinesis for the streamer.

Starring Yoo Ah-in, Park Jeong-min, Kim Hyun-Joo among others, this project marks his second collaboration with Netflix. Based on Choi Gyu-Seok’s Korean webtoon Songgot, the horror series will show how people are randomly condemned to hell by a mysterious sect of supernatural creatures who appear out of thin air.

While people are left to ponder whether it is an act of good or evil, a religious cult, headed by Jung Jin-Soo, interprets it to be a divine blessing. The illustrator himself is closely working with the team and helping to co-write the project.

The trailer shows that the show will provide a commentary on sins and how the lack of shame and remorse is triggering the same.it also provides an insight into the predicament, paranoia and anxiety of a nation that faces unknown threats.

The trailer sees the people in a state of frenzy as they are dragged towards hell. It will doubtless be dragging in viewers with a similar remorseless pull.

It was the first Korean drama to debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2021. Watch the TIFF trailer here
