Watch Julianne Moore and Kevin Bacon star in trailer for new Netflix series ‘Sirens’
Netflix recently released the first trailer for the upcoming series Sirens, which features Julianne Moore starring as a high-society “cult leader” alongside her husband and billionaire mogul, played by Kevin Bacon.
“Told over the course of one explosive weekend at The Kells’ lavish beach estate, Sirens is an incisive, sexy, and darkly funny exploration of women, power, and class,” the synopsis reads.
The new limited series is the brainchild of Molly Smith Metzler, who previously created 2021’s Maid starring Margaret Qualley.
The trailer portrays an intense relationship between Moore’s enigmatic socialite character, Michaela Kell, and young, fresh-faced helper Simone, played by House of the Dragon actor Milly Alcock. In one scene, they exchange the same piece of gum, chewing loudly. Doechii’s recent hit, ‘Anxiety,’ thrums in the background.
Drop actor Megan Fahy plays Simone’s older sister, Devon, who turns up to the cult gathering unannounced after Simone moves further from her reach amid a family emergency. Devon plans to stage an intervention in Simone’s life, but Michaela stands firmly in the way. Kevin Bacon will play Michaela’s husband, named Peter Kell.
Speaking to Tudum about the show, Metzler commented: “Michaela and Simone are friends. They’re trauma-bonded. They’re codependent. But they also really need something from each other. And what they need from each other shifts throughout the show.”
The film also includes Josh Segarra, Felix Solis, Trevor Salter, Lauren Weedman, Britne Oldford, and Jenn Lyon also star in Sirens, per Variety. Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley and Dani Gorin all serve as executive producers.
Drumming up almost two million views in less than 24 hours, Sirens already has many Netflix fans onboard. The series will begin airing on the platform on May 22nd.
