Watch Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx star in the ‘Back in Action’ trailer
Following a decade-long hiatus, on January 17th, Cameron Diaz returns to the screen alongside Jamie Foxx, in the aptly titled Back in Action. The Netflix movie follows a pair of ex-CIA spies who left espionage to start a family, only to be dragged back in by forces out of their control.
Notably, Diaz and Foxx starred in the 1999 sports drama Any Given Sunday and later reunited on screen in 2014’s adaptation of the musical Annie. In their latest outing, directed by Seth Gordon, who helmed Horrible Bosses, the two delve into the world of action-comedy. Both stars have form for this, with Diaz’s most famous outings in the genre being the Charlie’s Angels films.
The official trailer for Back in Action has just been released. It shows Diaz and Foxx’s characters unwillingly giving up their life of pickleball and sourdough after their old profession pulls them back in, when, as viewers see in the clip, their family is attacked at a service station. With Soulja Boy’s ‘Turn My Swag On’ playing in the background, their characters unleash hell on their assailants, with Foxx using a makeshift flamethrower.
“Did you see what we just saw?” their daughter asks in the trailer. “Did you see what we just did?” Diaz replies.
The cast also features McKenna Roberts, Rylan Jackson, Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou and Glenn Close.
In December, Foxx released the Netflix comedy special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was… wherein he used music and comedy as a vehicle to chronicle the brain bleed that led to a stroke and subsequent surgery in 2023. This serious health scare also delayed the production of Back in Action, which was originally expected in November.
