‘Virgin River’ season seven is set to arrive on Netflix this March
Netflix subscribers, we hope you’re ready for Virgin River’s comeback in 2026 because your favourite couple, Mr and Mrs Sheridan, clearly are, as is evident from their promising first look photo from what’s to come.
Virgin River is officially set to return on Netflix this spring. So, mark your calendars now for March 12, 2026!
The new chapter picks up on the heels of restaurateur Jack Sheridan and nurse practitioner Melinda Monroe’s tying the knot in the season six finale. The wedding was in the cards for the longest time, considering they put a ring on each other’s fingers way back in season four. “There’s so many feelings about Mel and Jack finally getting married, I don’t even know where to start!” actor Alexandra Breckenridge previously told Tudum.
In fact, Virgin River offered the audience two weddings within an episode – first when they renew their commitment to each other in a remote spot by the river, and eventually when they say “I do” in front of their loved ones. But as we know, there’s a lot more on the pair’s plate than just the wedded bliss.
The sixth season of Virgin River pulls down the curtains with one of Mel’s pregnant patients expressing her hope of placing her baby in Mel and Jack’s care after her initial adoptive couple backs out. And it goes without saying that the opportunity shows a real sliver of possibility, especially in light of their fertile journey.
“We obviously saw the tragedy with the miscarriage in season five, and Mel ultimately deciding that with all the past trauma that she’s experienced around not being able to conceive or losing babies, she’s done,” Martin Henderson told Tudum previously. “It hurts her too much. I think it was really interesting to see the couple go through something so dark together and then find a way through that actually made them closer and stronger. Out of that is born this idea that they still have their dream, [but] it just might look a little different.”
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith previously clarified that married life will be anything but boring or mundane for the pair. “I think we’ve only just begun to see Mel and Jack function as a married couple, which is exciting,” he said. As for the upcoming season of Virgin River, well, it is expected to explore “the honeymoon phase for them as they’re building their lives on the farm, which can come with its own obstacles.”
“Mel came to Virgin River expecting the cabin to be farmhouse chic, and now she’s living in a farmhouse. What does that mean for her character? She continues to be a fish out of water and [is] constantly taking herself out of her comfort zone,” he adds. If anything, the creator plans to take their potential parenthood journey to the next level of exploring adoption.
Now that congratulations are on the way, we hope you save the date too, for March 12th, 2026.
