'Virgin River' confirmed for more seasons on Netflix

Virgin River has been confirmed to return to Netflix following its fifth season. The hit show’s fifth season is set to premiere later in 2023. The exciting announcement formed part of Netflix’s first-ever upfront presentation on Wednesday.

Fans of the show had previously been informed that they would have to wait a little longer for the airing of season five, throwing a shade of doubt on the future of the show beyond. The new announcement, therefore, comes as a breath of fresh air as the drama series, based on the novels of the same name by Robyn Carr, looks to stay for the long haul

Featuring Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson in leading roles, the series centres around Melinda Monroe (Breckenridge), a midwife and nurse practitioner who seeks a fresh beginning in the secluded town of Virgin River, California. However, she swiftly discovers that the town is more complex and less idyllic than initially anticipated.

The show has been a notable success on Netflix, with its fourth season alone amassing a staggering 277 million hours of viewing within its first 28 days. It claimed the top spot on the streamer’s coveted Top 10 list for two consecutive weeks, solidifying its status as a breakout hit.
