‘Untold: Jail Blazers’ on Netflix: Where are the players now?
The critically acclaimed anthology series UNTOLD returned to Netflix in late March 2026, offering viewers a front-row seat to the extraordinary controversies from the world of sports. Although the series has featured NBA stories before, from Malice at the Palace to Shooting Guards, this time around, Untold: Jail Blazers grabbed the attention for more than one reason.
Untold: Jail Blazers revisits the era of the Portland Trail Blazers, a championship-calibre NBA team that imploded due to its own short-sightedness, player volatility, excruciating media attention, criminal charges, and unrelenting controversies.
The team was eventually dubbed “Jail Blazers” for several incidents of player misconduct, and the Netflix documentary primarily features interviews with three players who were crucially involved with the team at the time – Rasheed Wallace, Damon Stoudamire, and Bonzi Wells.
While most of you must have already caught up with Untold: Jail Blazers, for those curious about where the team members are now, here’s the answer.
Where are the players now from Untold: Jail Blazers?
The era of Jail Blazers, as portrayed in the Netflix documentary, officially came to a close with Bob Whitsitt’s decision to ultimately depart from the Portland Trail Blazers after owner Paul Allen wanted him to oversee his newly acquired NFL team, the Seattle Seahawks. With Whitsitt gone, John Nash came in as a substitute, who wasted no time in trying to reform the team’s public reputation.
Nash let go of controversial players, even if they were the most skilled, including Rasheed Wallace, Damon Stoudamire, and Bonzi Wells. After exiting the Portland Trail Blazers, Wallace joined the Atlanta Hawks, eventually moving to the Detroit Pistons. His involvement with the Pistons also resulted in their victory over the LA Lakers in the 2004 NBA Finals. Wallace is the only player from the Jail Blazers team to win a championship ring.
Wallace retired from the NBA and entered the world of coaching. However, the stint was mostly unsuccessful. As of now, he’s the associate head coach of the Tennessee Collegiate Academy.
Stoudamire was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2005, and then he moved to the San Antonio Spurs. Although he was awarded the 1996-96 Rookie of the Year, he couldn’t reach the heights of the sport, arguably due to his disciplinary issues and drug problems. He retired in 2008 and began coaching the Boston Celtics as an assistant coach. Right now, he’s pushing the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the NCAA Division I.
As for Bonzi Wells? He was the first among the three to be traded in 2003. Wells played for several NBA teams before going to China and Puerto Rico. After his retirement, he became a professional coach. Now, he has joined forces with Stoudamire to lead the Georgia Tech team as an assistant.
