Uma Thurman, Henry Golding join Charlize Theron in 'The Old Guard' sequel

Charlize Theron’s 2020 film The Old Guard was a true success on Netflix. Now, Netflix has ordered a sequel for the film, which will also star Uma Thurman and Henry Golding.

The Old Guard starred Theron, KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Harry Melling, Veronica Ngo, Luca Marinelli and Marwan Kenzari.

For the project, Charlize Theron and the other actors famously performed most of their stunts alone. Based on Greg Rucka’s eponymous graphic novel, the film revolved around Theron’s character, Andy, and her group of immortal mercenaries who have protected the mortal world. However, an emergency operation soon threatens to destabilise the team. The newest recruit must join the team leader to rise against enemies.

Victoria Mahoney, known for Lovecraft Country, will direct the upcoming sequel.

The final film ended with Ngo getting ready to seek revenge against Andy for letting her stay captive at the bottom of the sea for centuries. The Old Guard 2 could focus on the story of vengeance.

Thurman is best known for her roles in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill films. Having already played the vengeful Bride in Kill Bill, Thurman is an excellent fit for action sequences.

While Thurman and Golding’s roles are still unknown, fans are already excited to see what the duo will offer in the film. Netflix has not yet confirmed the release date for the sequel, which will begin filming soon.
