Tyler Perry signs protracted creative deal with Netflix

In the wake of the WGA strikes, Netflix has established a new partnership with Tyler Perry, who will write, direct and produce movies exclusive to the platform under a multi-year first-look deal.

Perry already has a handful of exciting projects in the works with Netflix. One of which is Six Triple Eight, a movie featuring a talented ensemble cast led by Kerry Washington.

Six Triple Eight unfurls the remarkable true story of the first and only Black Women’s Army Corps unit to be stationed overseas during World War II.

Another feature on the horizon for Perry is Mea Culpa, which will star Kelly Rowland. It follows the story of a criminal defence attorney who accepts a case involving an artist suspected of being involved in the death of his girlfriend, raising questions about his guilt or innocence.

Tyler Perry has collaborated with Netflix on several previous titles. These include A Jazzman’s Blues, a love story defying societal norms that had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2022.

He also brought the 12th instalment of the immensely popular Madea franchise to Netflix with A Madea Homecoming. Additionally, Perry released a nailbiting thriller with A Fall from Grace.
