‘Trap House’: The Dave Bautista action thriller climbing the Netflix charts
It has been barely a week since the high-octane action-thriller, Trap House, starring David Bautista, made its streaming debut on Netflix. But if you take a look at the streamer’s weekly top 10 charts, you’d see how it has made itself right at home already.
In the week from February 26th to March 3rd, Trap House amassed 2.9million views, ranking seventh on the global movies chart. Meanwhile, in the US, the action-adventure movie is clutching a sliver, positioned second.
Following the film’s quiet theatrical run in late 2025, Trap House is busy making waves on digital. While it doesn’t boast a high Rotten Tomatoes rating, it doesn’t have any shortcomings in its current viewership.
Although this isn’t the first movie to attract more traffic on streaming than in theatres, it certainly couldn’t have chosen a better time.
Ever since The Rip broke the cinematic trend of slow-paced, holiday-laced movies on Netflix, viewers haven’t seemed to be getting enough of their action dose. And Trap House made it just in time to fit the bill of Netflix’s algorithmic serendipity, where these new additions automatically come to rescue when your eyes seek beyond for more.
Also, one has to give credit to the movie itself for breaking away from patterns. Trap House, unlike standard action thrillers involving drug cartels, comes with a massive twist that you wouldn’t see coming from miles away.
The movie centres on two DEA agents on their cat and mouse chase for a group of thieves, who turn out to be their own rebellious teenagers, harnessing top-secret intel, surveillance, and tactics learned and stolen from their parents to rob cartel stash houses, not only putting themselves up against the cartel but also the DEA.
In addition to Bautista, who literally boasts a cult following, Trap House is packed with “it” actors such as Jack Champion, Sophia Lillis, Tony Dalton, and Whitney Peak, among others. So, of course, the star power also comes into play when considering the reasons behind its rocketing up on the charts.
But then again, nothing tops a good storyline, and that’s what everyone’s here for. Therefore, if you’re yet to join the Trap House fan club, now might just be the time.
