Netflix’s first trailer for 'Nightbooks' is absolutely terrifying

The upcoming Netflix horror film Nightbrooks is slated to stream on September 15, 2021, and has recently released a trailer that is terrifying and might come to haunt you in your dreams.

Directed by Brightburn director David Yarovesky and produced by Sam Raimi, the genius behind Evil Dead, be prepared to be terrorised by the film. The trailer itself is filled with elements of supernatural horror, and there is a lot to unpack.

Based on J.A. White’s eponymous Story, the film is set in an NYC apartment. What could be so scary, right? Well, imagine being trapped in their witch, a witch who demands to hear a new scary story every night lest you want to die. It is an absolute nightmare!

Winslow Fegley plays a bespectacled young boy named Alex who finds himself waking up in an alien environment before being ambushed by a witch named Natacha, played by Krysten Ritter. With her long nails and scary spells, Natacha spares Alex’s life in lieu of him telling her a new scary story every night.

Alex soon finds another girl named Yasmine, played by Lydia Jewett, in the same predicament and decides to hatch a plan that might save them both from the evil clutches of the witch. However, given the apartment’s unique ability to move across places, dimensions, space and time, their job seems a lot more difficult.

The trailer seems promising with innumerable books, scary spells and potions, disappearing Egyptian cats, skull-faced insects and vile unicorns galore. It will possibly be milking the very popular genre of telling stories to stop being murdered, as is popular in Middle Eastern folk tales.

The trailer looks quite scary, and escape seems challenging and nearly impossible. Will Alex escape, or will he face a fate that is, according to Yasmine, worse than death? What is it that Jessica Jonesturned-evil-witch Natacha wants from the abducted children? Stay tuned to find out.
