Trailer released for Netflix’s Morgan Freeman-narrated nature documentary

Netflix have released the first full-length trailer for the upcoming nature documentary series Life on Our Planet, which has been executively produced by Steven Spielberg and narrated by Morgan Freeman.

The Academy Award-winning actor Freeman has narrated all eight episodes of the series, with it said to chart and examine “life’s epic battle to conquer and survive on Planet Earth”.

The synopsis for the series reads, “Today there are 20 million species on our planet, yet what we see is just a snapshot in time – 99 per cent of earth’s inhabitants are lost to our deep past.

“The story of what happened to these dynasties – their rise and their fall – is truly remarkable,” it continues. Life on Our Planet will use state-of-the-art visual effects to bring extinct creatures back to life, including dinosaurs and woolly mammoths.

The trailer sees a Tyrannosaurus Rex hunt down a Triceratops. Freeman, who had previously provided the narration for 2005’s March of the Penguins, said, “This is the story of the great battles of survival – and the dynasties that would take over the world.”

The rest of the released footage shows a variety of animals, including cheetahs, Komodo dragons, squids and sharks, with Freeman saying, “From the beginning of life to today. This is the story of life on our planet.”
