Watch the trailer for Netflix K-drama ‘The Trunk’, starring Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun-jin
Netflix has finally released the full trailer for the upcoming K-drama The Trunk. Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun-jin star in the series, which will be released at the end of November. It is one of the most anticipated series of the year.
The series is based on a 2015 novel by Kim Ryeo-ryeong of the same name. Some aspects of the plot remain a mystery; however, we do have a brief understanding of what will happen. The plot follows Jung-won, a man who enters into a one-year contract marriage with a woman named In-ji. In-ji works as a temporary spouse for the wealthy and lonely. The contract was enacted by a company called NM Company, to whom Jung-won was introduced by his ex-wife, Seo-yeon.
Jung-won finds himself in a hole, missing his ex-wife and pining over her; however, in time, he grows closer to In-ji. When things start to get better, a mysterious trunk is discovered in a lake, which reveals a number of secrets about the actual motif of NM Company. This sparks a police-wide investigation, which leads to Jung-won finding out more than he bargained for regarding the company with which he is now intertwined.
Trunk has a star-studded cast. Gong Yoo, the star of Squid Game and Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, stars as the main character Jung-won. Meanwhile, opposite him is Seo Hyun-jin from Beauty Inside and Why Her, who plays In-ji.
Also starring in the series is Jung Yun-ha from Big Bet, who plays Seo-yeon, Jung-won’s mysterious ex-wife and representative on behalf of NM Company. Kim Dong-won, from Love Song for Illusion, is also in the series and will be playing Uhm Ji-won.
Netflix released the first trailer for the series on November 12th, which doesn’t reveal much about the plot. Shrouded in mystery, the clip asks more questions than it answers as it opens on Jung-won and In-ji’s weddings, which Jung-won wants to go back to for their ex-wife but doesn’t receive a response from her. We see the couple married, which Jung-won immediately begins to question.
We see the two grow close after an initial cold and awkward encounter. They become so close that Jung-won begins questioning their relationship and whether or not it could ever become real. Simultaneously, the strange trunk is uncovered, and the true mystery begins, but not much else is revealed afterwards.
The Trunk is available to watch on November 29th.
