Tim Roth joins Cillian Murphy and Barry Keoghan in Netflix’s ‘Peaky Blinders’ movie

English actor Tim Roth is the latest star to join the cast list for Netflix’s upcoming Peaky Blinders movie.

In 2022, Steven Knight’s beloved series Peaky Blinders came to an end after almost a decade. Over six series and 38 episodes, the show won over audiences and awards in abundance, becoming one of the most well-loved British shows in recent memory.

Talks of a follow-up movie began as soon as the final series was announced. Earlier this year, Netflix confirmed that it had picked up a feature film about the Brummie crime gang, with Cillian Murphy set to return to the iconic role of group leader Tommy Shelby.

“It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me,” the star shared with Netflix, “It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Night and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”

Murphy will be joined by Rebecca Ferguson and Barry Keoghan in currently undisclosed roles. Ferguson most recently appeared on our screens as Lady Jessica in Dune: Part Two, while Keoghan won over audiences with his performance in Saltburn in 2023 and The Banshees of Insherin the year prior. Now, another huge name has been attached to the movie.

Roth has been announced as the latest addition to the cast. Like Ferguson and Keoghan, his role in the movie is still being kept under wraps. The London-born actor is perhaps most well-known for his collaborations with director Quentin Tarantino, starring in cult classics like Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction.

With four cast members now confirmed, the currently unnamed Peaky Blinders movie will begin production this year. Knight, who created the original series, will pen the screenplay, while Harper is set to return to the director’s seat. A release date for the project is yet to be confirmed.

The Peaky Blinders movie isn’t the only Netflix project that Knight currently has in the works. He is also set to direct a drama series about the history of the beloved Irish stout Guinness, titled House of Guinness, and the family business that created it.

Louis Partridge will star as Edward Guinness, the head of the business. The cast list also includes Anthony Boyle as another member of the Guinness family, Emily Fairn, Fionn O’Shea, and Jack Gleeson. Production on the series has begun, but a release date has not been revealed.
