Three true-crime Netflix documentaries to keep an eye out for in November

Netflix took a brief pause on its true-crime content in the past few months, but with November around the corner, expect a full-fledged comeback with documentaries you cannot miss.

The streaming giant is ready to blow minds with true-crime documentaries on cases ripped from the headlines. But if you think documentaries are the only format that will address these checkered rap sheets, you’re wildly mistaken.

While there’s no point in getting ahead of ourselves, November is shaping up to be a month where viewers might take leave to finish everything on the Netflix watchlist.

So, if you’re a true-crime fanatic, make sure to keep an eye out for these three Netflix Original documentaries in November.

Three true-crime documentaries to watch out for in November

Taken: Natalee Holloway (Dani Sloane and Matthew Galkin, 2026)

Arriving on November 4th, Taken: Natalee Holloway is an upcoming true-crime documentary that revisits the mysterious disappearance of the teen from two decades ago. In May 2005, several high school students from a small Alabama town took a trip to Aruba to celebrate their graduation. However, one student, Natalee Holloway, didn’t make it home, sparking an island-wide search operation that only concluded in 2023.

For the first time ever, Natalee’s mother, Beth Holloway, sheds light on the definitive story about her daughter’s shocking disappearance that has made her life a living nightmare. From directors Dani Sloane and Matthew Galkin, Taken: Natalee Holloway is a three-part documentary that chronicles the spine-chilling case through conversations with those closest to Natalee, uncovering forgotten moments and elements that went unreported earlier.

Unprotected: Murder in Galicia (George Laplace, 2026)

Premiering on November 6th, Unprotected: Murder in Galicia is a forthcoming true-crime documentary on the 2015 real-life case of Isabel Fuentes, a 65-year-old woman who was found nearly dead inside her home in the quaint village of Pazos in Verín, Galicia. Although the case was initially suspected to be a robbery gone wrong amid a wave of terrifying local burglaries, a Guardia Civil sergeant doubted foul play.

Just 37 days after the attack, Isabel was murdered in her hospital room during her recovery. Unprotected: Murder in Galicia features testimonies from doctors, investigators, neighbours, and journalists, offering a stark commentary on systemic failure and the short-sightedness of law enforcement that ultimately made her a victim. Netflix is also releasing a scripted take titled Murder of Galicia in the week after.

The Trials of Karen Read (Danielle Johnson and Rob Miller, 2026)

Lastly, scheduled for release on November 23rd, The Trials of Karen Read is a true-crime docuseries that examines the tragic death of Boston police officer John O’Keefe and the high-profile trials of his girlfriend, Karen Read, that followed. The real-life event dates back to January 29th, 2022, when O’Keefe was found unresponsive in the snow outside a fellow law enforcement colleague’s home in Canton, Massachusetts.

Following an investigation, investigators charged Read with second-degree murder, manslaughter under the influence, and fleeing the scene of a fatal accident. While that was the prosecution’s side, Read’s defence team alleged that she was reportedly being framed as a scapegoat in an elaborate police cover-up. The Trials of Karen Read chronicles the chronology of the shocking investigation through courtroom testimonies and interviews with key players.
