Unlike long-format releases that risk cancellation on a cliffhanger, keep fans waiting for an unending period, or drag out plotlines until quality drops, limited series are self-contained stories that are easily bingeable over a weekend.
That said, Netflix has clearly made exceptions, surprising fans with follow-ups for shows originally conceived as limited series, and even the go-to fandom of short-format releases couldn’t help but cheer for them.
So, for those wondering whether the change of heart is worth it, here are three Netflix titles that are no longer limited series and fans still love them the same.

Untamed (Thomas Bezucha, Nick Murphy, and Neasa Hardiman, 2025-Present)
Although originally announced as a limited series, fans were ecstatic when Netflix renewed v the 2024 crime thriller Untamed for a second season. The debut season follows special agent Kyle Turner as he investigates the mysterious death of a young woman who falls from El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, eventually exposing a dangerous local drug trafficking ring involving a corrupt officer, while facing the ghosts of his own past.
In the second season of the hit Netflix series, Turner leaves Yosemite, a place he previously held authority and moves to Hawaii to investigate the mysterious murder of a local businessman’s son. As he navigates the volatile backdrop of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, Turner locks horns with the grieving father, making him pull up his guard as local resistance, traditional values, and buried skeletons complicate the federal investigation.
The Beast in Me (Antonio Campos, Tyne Rafaeli, and Lila Neugebauer, 2025-Present)
Again, despite being originally conceived and marketed as a self-contained eight-episode limited series, Netflix greenlit The Beast in Me for a second season, which, honestly, was a welcome surprise. The first season of the psychological crime thriller centres on reclusive famous author Aggie Wiggs, who stopped writing after a heavy personal loss.
But as the deadline approaches and funds run out, Aggie sets her sights on her new neighbour, Nile, suspected of being involved in his first wife’s disappearance. As she grows dangerously obsessed with Nile, she spirals into a dark, psychological game of cat-and-mouse in an attempt to uncover the truth, unknowingly exposing a secret web of corruption and staged suicides. With Claire Danes reprising her role as Aggie in The Beast of Me season two, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the show.
BEEF (Lee Sung Jin, 2023-Present)
While the first two shows await a sophomore season, BEEF, originally born as a one-off limited series, already has a hit second season on Netflix. The debut season of the dark comedy drama follows two stressed strangers, struggling contractor Danny and self-made entrepreneur Amy, who end up in a near-collision road-rage incident in a parking lot. What starts as a brief car chase and foul-mouthing soon evolves into a dangerous cycle of retaliation.
The second season of BEEF centres on a young couple working at an elite country club who witness a heated argument between their older bosses, general manager Josh and his wife Lindsay. Seeking leverage and a way up the hierarchy, the Gen Z pair blackmails the bosses with footage of the fight, inadvertently triggering a passive-aggressive game of manipulation that consumes both couples in more ways than one.
