Ransom Canyon season two has officially entered the chat, and Netflix subscribers can barely keep calm. However, as we all know, the wait lasts for months, as does the anticipation, but the season? Barely a day!

While we cannot be the only ones who watched Quinn O’Grady and Staten Kirkland’s comebacks in one sitting, everyone who dared to pull it off is probably wondering, “Now, what?”

Well, although a straightforward question, the answer is more than one because, as you know, a post-viewing recommendation can never run out of choices.

Although it’s a bit of a high-stakes answer to the epic ranch drama, set against the backdrop of the Australian outback, the Netflix neo-Western series follows the ruthless battle for control of the world’s largest cattle station when an unexpected tragedy shakes up the line of succession.

Territory opens with the death of Marianne Station’s intended heir, Daniel’s death, which puts the Lawson family in a tough position as ageing patriarch Colin, now officially lacking a clear inheritor, leaves his struggling alcoholic son Graham, revolting grandson Marshall, and his ambitious wife to fight for the power. But as word spreads about a decaying dynasty, the threat no longer remains internal as outsiders move in to try and seize the situation to their benefit.

Sullivan’s Crossing (Gail Harvey, Chris Grismer, and Jerry Ciccoritti, 2023-Present)

Although not a Netflix Original, Sullivan’s Crossing is currently available on the platform, making the post-viewing marathon for Ransom Canyon all the easier. From the picturesque small-town community and cosy rural landscape to family estrangement and a high-stakes romance, the series based on Robyn Carr’s book just hits every right chord one would look for in a potential follow-up or a near-perfect companion watch.

Sullivan’s Crossing follows Boston neurosurgeon Maggie, whose carefully crafted life falls apart following a malpractice lawsuit, fuelled all the more by private scandals. Determined to escape the life she’s built and is now in ruins, she flees to her childhood home in Timberlake, Nova Scotia, navigating the complex relationship with her estranged father, adjusting to a slower life, and making way for a mysterious newcomer.

Virgin River (Martin Wood, Monika Mitchell, and Andy Mikita, 2019-Present)

Coming to the quintessential follow-up to Ransom Canyon, whether it’s season one or two, it has got to be Virgin River, also based on Robyn Carr’s book. The romantic drama centres on nurse practitioner Mel Monroe, who moves into a remote Northern Californian town from Los Angeles in the aftermath of a devastating personal loss. While grieving, she accepts a job with an old-school local doctor, who initially doesn’t want to work with her.

Although a new start is never really a walk in the park, Virgin River follows Mel as she learns to warm up, navigate small-town drama, personal trauma, and move past the ghosts of her past. The series chronicles Mel’s profound journey of overcoming adversity and confronting new ones while healing from estrangement and loss, ultimately transforming her perspective and allowing her to embrace a deeper sense of love, family, and fulfilment.
