This Pulitzer Prize-winning story is coming to Netflix in April

Nicole Kidman fans will be delighted to know that yet another one of her films, based on a Pulitzer Prize-winning story, is finally making its way to Netflix UK on April 4th, 2022.

Titled The Goldfinch, the 2019 film was based on Donna Tartt’s popular, Prize-winning 2013 novel of the same name. Given the brilliant content of the book, Tartt went on to win one of the highest and most prestigious awards in the field of literature.

Directed by John Crowley, the drama film is based on Peter Straughan’s adapted screenplay from the book. Besides Kidman, the film stars Ansel Elgort in the lead, who starred in the movie following his breakthrough role in Baby Driver

Other actors like Sarah Paulson, Jeffrey Wright, Aneurin Barnard, Finn Wolfhard, Oakes Fegley and Luke Wilson were seen in supporting roles.

The film sees Elgort as the protagonist, Theodore Decker, who finds his life intrinsically related to a famous painting called The Goldfinch, created in 1654 by Dutch artist Carel Fabritius after losing his mother to a brutal terrorist attack at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Although it was faithful to the source material, the film was heavily criticised and not showered with praises, unlike the book. However, Nicole Kidman, who plays Decker’s foster mother, was lauded for her sincere and incredible performance.

The Goldfinch will be another addition to the rows of Kidman films already available for streaming on Netflix.

The Goldfinch will begin streaming on Netflix UK on April 4th, 2022.
