The trailer for 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' has arrived

Netflix has unveiled the trailer for the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender, scheduled for a 2024 release.

The Last Airbender depicts a world where four nations, each governed by a distinct element – air, fire, water, and earth – once coexisted harmoniously.

After an assault by the Fire Nation, the fate of the land hinges on Aang (Gordon Cormier), the Avatar with mastery over all elements, tasked with bringing back peace.

Along with Cormier taking on the role of Aang, Kiawentiio portrays Katara, Ian Ousley plays Sokka, and Zuko is played by Dallas Liu. The ensemble also features Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as General Iroh.

Showrunner and executive producer duties are in the hands of the esteemed Albert Kim, with additional directors including co-executive producer Roseanne Liang and Jet Wilkinson.

Besides Kim, the series will be also be helmed by Michael Goi from American Horror Story, Lindsey Liberatore from The Day After Tomorrow and The Lego Movie’s Dan Lin.

The Netflix series was originally meant to be created by the original creators, namely Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who announced in 2020 their detachment from the project. DiMartino later cited in an open letter that “things did not go as we had hoped.”

However, it is rumoured that DiMartino and Konietzko are currently working on an animated movie that continues the story of Aang and the gang under Avatar Studios.
