The film revolves around the touching true story of a couple, Paige and Leo, whose lives take a dramatic turn when a car accident leaves Paige with amnesia, erasing all memories of her relationship with Leo. The fact that this actually happened to two people in reality attracted Rachel McAdams to the role, as she explained to Huffington Post, “I thought it was an incredible story, having actually happened to two people. The idea that this woman who had completely forgotten her husband – and that they found their way back to each other – was extraordinary. That really drew my attention.”
However, it was the romance of it all that really sealed the deal for her, “I generally like movies that have some kind of love story in them… It doesn’t necessarily have to be your straight-ahead romantic relationship. But I do like movies that are about love. It’s what we’re all seeking and what we all want.”
Despite some critics noting the predictability of the plot, The Vow has garnered praise for its sincerity and emotional quotient. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, The Vow is just an ideal watch.
