The teary Rachel McAdams romance warming hearts on Netflix

As Valentine’s Day approaches, there’s a palpable sense of romance in the air, and what better way to indulge in the warmth of love than with a heartfelt movie on Netflix? Cue Rachel McAdams, the queen of modern-day cinematic romance.

McAdams films seldom fail to mesmerise audiences, especially during the cosy confines of cuffing season. And this time, it’s The Vow that’s stealing hearts on Netflix, claiming the seventh spot on the global top ten list of films.

Directed by Michael Sucsy and written by Abby Kohn, Marc Silverstein, and Jason Katims, the cast of The Vow is led by McAdams alongside the charismatic and surprisingly tender Channing Tatum. Sam Neill, Scott Speedman, and Jessica Lange join in as the supporting cast.

The film revolves around the touching true story of a couple, Paige and Leo, whose lives take a dramatic turn when a car accident leaves Paige with amnesia, erasing all memories of her relationship with Leo. As Leo struggles to win back the love of his life, viewers are taken on an emotional rollercoaster filled with heartache and hope.

The fact that this actually happened to two people in reality attracted Rachel McAdams to the role, as she explained to Huffington Post, “I thought it was an incredible story, having actually happened to two people. The idea that this woman who had completely forgotten her husband – and that they found their way back to each other – was extraordinary. That really drew my attention.”

However, it was the romance of it all that really sealed the deal for her, “I generally like movies that have some kind of love story in them… It doesn’t necessarily have to be your straight-ahead romantic relationship. But I do like movies that are about love. It’s what we’re all seeking and what we all want.”

Despite some critics noting the predictability of the plot, The Vow has garnered praise for its sincerity and emotional quotient. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, The Vow is just an ideal watch.

So, grab a box of tissues and prepare to be swept away by the teary romance of The Vow on Netflix
