The Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham-led action movie series coming up next on Netflix
Action fanatics, better get ready! Netflix is bringing the most iconic four-part action movie series starring Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham, among others, in about two weeks: The Expendables.
Netflix summoned an action frenzy following the star-studded reunion of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in its recently released cop thriller The Rip. Now, it’s feeding fodder to the anticipation with one of the most unforgettable action franchises of all time, The Expendables.
February 20th marks the arrival of The Expendables on Netflix. The first three movies return to the platform after a two-year gap following their removal in October 2024. The three movies join the final release from the franchise, Expend4bles, which is also set to be added to the library on the same day.
This officially means that starting February 20, Netflix will be your one-stop solution for all things Expendables. So, viewers can opt for a franchise marathon anytime they like without having to hop to different streamers to find the rest of the titles.
While The Expendables has an existing cult following, its availability on Netflix would further guarantee new audience discovery, allowing it to reach a global audience. Although Netflix is already home to several popular franchises, including the recently added James Bond series, The Expendables’ arrival on streaming solidifies its stronghold in the digital radar.
The action thriller franchise conceived by David Callaham comprises The Expendables (2010), The Expendables 2 (2012), The Expendables 3 (2014), and Expend4bles (2023). In addition to starring in the series, Stallone co-wrote the first three movies, which, in turn, acknowledge the action blockbusters made in Hollywood in the 1980s and 1990s.
The Expendables franchise primarily follows a group of mercenaries led by Barney Ross and Lee Christmas, who carry out high-stakes, action-packed quests all over the world. The films explore themes of brotherhood, loyalty, and redemption as they confront every kind of evil, including rogue agents, dictators, and arms dealers, beginning with the dethroning of a South American nemesis in the 2010 movie.
So, in case you were worried about the sparks being missing on Netflix this February, you can finally take a sigh of relief. And while you’re at it, don’t forget to pre-plan.
Considering Netflix still has plenty to offer you throughout the month, The Expendables’ arrival on top of that leaves no time to waste. Hence, save the date now!
