'The Recruit' has been renewed for season 2

When The Recruit was first released in December of last year, the new spy show garnered a lot of attention. Noah Centineo put in a solid shift as Owen Hendricks, a new legal recruit at the CIA who finds himself at the centre of ominous international conflicts due to a strange turn of events.

Although the future of the show was hanging in the balance, fans of The Recruit can rest easy knowing that it has been picked up for a second season by Netflix. In a conversation with Tudum, the show’s creator, Alexi Hawley, spoke about the upcoming addition to the show.

Hawley said: “I’m thrilled to dive back into the fun, funny, action-packed world of The Recruit. Seeing how invested our audience became in the show’s adventurous take on the spy world and Noah’s turn as Owen has been incredibly rewarding, and I can’t wait to turn it all up to ’11’ in Season Two.”

While elaborating on the potential of the second season, Centineo added: “I know I speak for our entire cast and executive team at eOne and Netflix when I say that we are thrilled to be returning to The Recruit for a second season. I’m looking forward to seeing what Alexi Hawley has in store for us all.”

Recently, Hawley – who already has a vision for the show’s future – also spoke with Collider about the second season: “I know things about where I would want to take it and where I’d want to go with it. I mean obviously, you hope for success, but as you could see with that ending, I didn’t plan for failure because I feel like in this day and age you just have to be bold, you have to be dramatic, to the expense of everything else.”
