The real locations of ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’

Netflix’s brand-new horror series, The Fall of the House of Usher, has stormed the charts of the streaming service and is enthralling fans across the world with its classic creepy tale, encouraging people to search exactly where the series was filmed.

Helmed by Mike Flanagan, who also brought The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor to the streaming service, the series is inspired by the works of the American writer and poet Edgar Allan Poe. It tells the story of Roderick Usher, a billionaire CEO of a pharmaceutical company whose family begins to be picked off one by one in a murderous, supernatural ploy.

With eight episodes that feature vast estates and mansions, much of the series takes place in New York City but was actually filmed up North in Canada.

Filming began back on January 31st at Bride Studios, Vancouver, with much of the series being filmed here. But, as for the titular House of Usher, this is located in Vancouver’s Delta neighbourhood and is better known as Roderick’s mansion.

The same Vancouver studio played host to the filming of Midnight Mass and the Paramount+ series Yellowjackets.

Posting on Twitter, Flanagan recently wrote: “A few minutes ago we wrapped production on The Fall Of The House Of Usher, closing a huge chapter of my life. I’ve worked in Vancouver almost nonstop since Bly Manor in 2019. We made 4 series in 3 years, only taking a short break for the COVID lockdown in early 2020”.

The Fall of the House of Usher stars the likes of Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Ruth Codd, Carla Gugino, Bruce Greenwood and Mark Hamill and has been a significant horror hit for the streaming service.
