The only action-adventure movie to watch right now on Netflix: ‘The Orphans’

The season of slow-paced movies is long gone, and Netflix has officially been living life on a fast lane. The adrenaline pump may have begun with The Rip, but now? The momentum goes on, all thanks to its latest action-adventure flick, The Orphans.

Directed by Oliver Schneider, The Orphans tells the story of two ex-best friends, one cop and another mercenary, who reunite after years over the most unlikely circumstance. Back in the day, they ended up estranged, fighting over their first love.

But when the woman they fought over passes away under mysterious circumstances, they join forces to save her teenage daughter, who is set out on her own mission to avenge her mother’s death.

The Orphans pans its focus on grumpy police officer, Gabriel, who has barely thought about his first love, Sofia, or his best friend, Driss, in nearly two decades. But that’s only until he hears from the caretaker of the orphanage the trio grew up in, which inevitably comes with bad news. According to the orphanage, Sofia has been involved in a terrifying car crash, and her survival is still not a guarantee.

As Gabriel makes his way to the hospital, he runs into Driss, who is now a mercenary with criminal connections. Although they haven’t seen eye-to-eye, let alone speak to each other, since their time in the orphanage, where they both fought over Sofia, as adults, they have completely changed. However, they have no choice but to keep their differences aside when they finally meet Sofia’s 17-year-old daughter, Leila, who was also in the car with her mother during the crash.

For Sofia, revenge is the only way out on the flashy sports car driver who ran them off the road. So, after the teenager steals Gabriel’s gun only to chase her mother’s killer, who happens to have the most powerful connections to the biggest security company in all of Europe, Gabriel and Driss join forces to track her down, hoping to save her from making a mistake that could turn her life upside down in more ways than it already is.

While the trio once again has one thing in common – the lack of a family – what if the mission becomes the catalyst for them stumbling across their own found family? Surely, the situation is born out of a crisis. However, the possibility of finding a silver lining isn’t null yet.

For those unaware, Schneider has been credited for stunt coordination in movies like Spectre and Fast X, previously. So, while watching The Orphans, expect some high-octane sequences to take your breath away.

Hence, if you haven’t already, start streaming The Orphans on Netflix now, before the spoilers ruin the fun for you.
