The movies set to be removed from Netflix this month

While Netflix is regularly updating the titles that are available to stream on their site, they also remove a number of projects each month. The platform will make sure to add new films and series for their subscribers to dive into, but as a result will take down anything that they feel isn’t as relevant or popular anymore. So, if there are any films that have been on your list for a while or series that you need to finish, here is a breakdown of the projects leaving Netflix in December.

On December 1st, a host of films were taken down, with classics like A Beautiful Life, Downton Abbey, Erin Brockovich and Glengarry Glen Ross disappearing from the site.

Gems from the independent filmmaking scene like Frances Ha and Whiplash were also removed, as well as the likes of Two Weeks Notice, Point Break and Nocturnal Animals. Therefore, if one had plans to watch any of these soon, then you’ll unfortunately have to search elsewhere online or, quite radically, buy a DVD.

While there were many projects that left the platform at the very beginning of the month, there are a few leaving in the next few days. Bill Nighy’s Living will leave on December 5th, along with True North, Green Lantern, I Can Only Imagine and The Commuter in the days before.

From December 7th onwards, the animated film Trolls will be leaving the platform. However, there are plenty of other similar films to choose from, such as the Sing series and Paddington.

Dear Son, 200 Meters, Boyz n the Hood and Darkest Hour will also be removed, so if you’ve been waiting for the chance to tick off another Academy Award-winning performance from your list, then now is the perfect time to catch up on Gary Oldman’s 2017 performance as the former British Prime Minister.

From December 18th, the adaptation of the titular Jane Austen novel Emma will leave the site, which was directed by Autumn de Wilde in 2020 and stars Anya Taylor-Joy in the lead role. Shortly afterwards, Aquaman will be taken down, as well as the Rush Hour series, Once Again and The Flash

During the festive celebrations, Matilda the Musical will be removed on Christmas Day.

Additionally, throughout the month, television series, including Haunted House and How to Get Away with Murder, will be removed in the first week of December, with interactive shows like Choose Love, Trivia Quest and Escape the Undertaker also disappearing.
