The most popular series on Netflix this week: June 2024

Continuing the age-old tradition of big stars being the easiest way to draw in a crowd on Netflix, the reigning champion on the streaming service’s episodic charts boasts Benedict Cumberbatch as its leading man and executive producer.

Dramatic mystery thriller Eric comfortably topped the rankings this week, with subscribers heading down the rabbit hole with the two-time Academy Award-nominated actor’s beleaguered father, Vincent, as he does everything in his power to be reunited with his missing son, all while failing miserably to keep his own demons at bay.

With over ten million views and in excess of 54 million cumulative viewing hours, it’s fair to say Eric is well on its way to becoming one of Netflix’s biggest hits of the year. In fact, it’s miles out in front on the charts, with young adult literary adaptation Geek Girl‘s first season earning 7.3million views by comparison.

The third season of Bridgerton continues to hold the fort in third, and with the second half dropping on June 13th, there are no prizes for guessing which series will be dominating both the discourse and the rankings by this time next week.

Docuseries Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult has shown impressive staying power by hanging around in fourth, with the highest-placed newcomer this week the third and final season of Sweet Tooth, the sweeping fantasy series unfolding in an apocalyptic world where humanity struggles to reconcile with the next stage in its ongoing evolution.

Just below it is another true crime series of an entirely different variety, with Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial in sixth, while season two of Bridgerton continues to hover in seventh as users continue to get their fill of the opulent and scintillating period drama before its latest batch of episodes drop.

Season two of Perfect Match and Jo Koy’s stand-up special Live from Brooklyn are the last remaining newcomers in eighth and ninth, and in what shouldn’t be a surprise by now, the tenth and final spot belongs to Bridgerton yet again, with the first season of the all-conquering show propping up the rankings.
