The most popular series on Netflix this week: June 2024

There are absolutely no surprises to be found at the top of the Netflix most-watched list this week, after Bridgerton returned with a vengeance to blow the competition clear out of the water.

Four weeks after the first half of the period drama’s third season dropped, the remaining episodes premiered and were evidently appointment viewing for subscribers around the world, with Bridgerton‘s return amassing 28million hours viewed in total.

For comparison’s sake, with the first and second seasons also charting in sixth and ninth position respectively, Shonda Rhimes’ and Chris Van Dusen’s steamy saga has been saucering eyeballs for a cumulative 33.1million hours.

The rest of the top ten combined could only rustle up 27.1 million across seven different TV shows, so it just goes to show that Netflix’s customer base remains stricken with a very bad case of Bridgerton fever, which has admittedly been the case since season 3 first landed back on May 16th.

The final season of the fantastical comic book adaptation Sweet Tooth continues to hold steady in second place, though, followed by the latest edition of the reality dating series Perfect Match. Beneath them, Benedict Cumberbatch’s arduous quest to find his missing son and salvage his personal life in Eric is sitting down in fourth.

Geek Girl is proving to be another mainstay on the platform’s top ten, as are docuseries of entirely different origins, with the social media-driven Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult hovering just underneath Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial, indicating that real life remains a big draw on-demand.

It’s hardly been the most stellar week for new additions, though, with the highest-ranked newbie on the charts the first season of Bryan Cranston’s Your Honour in tenth. It’s not even a Netflix original, either, with the legal drama first airing on American network Showtime back in December 2020, meaning there isn’t a single exclusive to have debuted in the top ten this week.

Not that the algorithm will be plunged into a state of panic when Bridgerton continues its unmatched dominance, even if it remains to be seen which show has what it takes to dislodge the all-conquering favourite from the summit in the weeks to come.
