The ‘Mission: Impossible’ movie coming up next on Netflix: ‘Dead Reckoning’
Since February is nearly over, Netflix didn’t exactly move mountains with its arrival arc this week, strictly sticking to quality over quantity. Content-heavy or not, the streamer ensured at least one title that can alone summon the buzz of a hundred, thanks to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, coming up next on Netflix.
You heard it right! The penultimate Tom Cruise headliner from the critically acclaimed Mission: Impossible franchise is all set to land on Netflix this week, on February 25th.
In July 2025, Netflix added the first five movies from the Mission: Impossible franchise, including Mission: Impossible, Mission: Impossible II, Mission: Impossible III, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, on the heels of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’s theatrical release. Now, in a move as slick and swift as an IMF getaway, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning lands with a bang on Netflix this week.
The action spy thriller, starring Cruise, serves as the sequel to Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning follows Ethan Hunt and his IMF team as they go head-to-head against the Entity, a chaotically powerful artificial intelligence. The movie opens with a high-stakes threat, courtesy of the rogue AI capable of infiltrating any digital system.
Hunt and his IMF team race against time to retrieve a two-part key that controls the Entity, before global security falls at a total risk. While the retrieval is an absolute to ensure the Entity is locked away or at least, to control it, Ethan’s missions are not without the bouts of impossibility, and the fact that a ghost of his past, Gabriel, is, well, a part of the sinister plot, doesn’t really help his case.
It turns out that Gabriel is actually an agent of the Entity with links to Ethan’s past, who has just one mission: to make humanity bow down to AI. To stop the Entity, Ethan must evade Gabriel to locate the two-part key. While Dead Reckoning is the second storyline from the series to feature Ilsa Faust, those who have watched it already know how things turn out.
But distracting ourselves from the heartbreaks, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning is widely regarded for its back-to-back adrenaline shots. From riding a motorcycle off a massive Norwegian cliff and ditching it mid-air for a high-speed jump to underwater diving towards the Sevastopol, the movie is not without its highlights.
Plus, considering Dead Reckoning adopts a darker tone than the previous films, forcing Ethan to reckon with his past, this might just be the perfect pick for the season’s changing.
So, get ready for a blockbuster watch party as Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning arrives on Wednesday on Netflix US.
