‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ has been confirmed for a new season

Already? Already?? Season four of The Lincoln Lawyer has not even landed yet, and Netflix has gone ahead and renewed it for a fifth season. That is right; before Mickey Haller has even had a chance to defend himself in his own trial, the courtroom doors have opened for another ten-episode run.

Season five is officially happening, and it will be based on Resurrection Walk, the seventh book in the bestselling series by Michael Connelly. If you thought things were heating up in season four, buckle up because the ride is far from over.

Showrunner Ted Humphrey and co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez have confirmed that work on the next season is already underway, and it is going to hit harder than ever. They describe season four as Mickey’s most personal and difficult chapter yet, a turning point where everything he has built starts to reveal itself.

Season three ended with Mickey being arrested for the murder of his former client, Sam Scales, and season four will begin with Mickey preparing for the fight of his life, and this time, for himself.

It has been a long journey for Mickey. He began with a sun-soaked redemption arc, and now he has become a man who is constantly haunted by the enemies he made and the past he cannot outrun. Now, being wrongfully accused and pushed into the defendant’s seat, he will be forced to rethink everything, not just as a lawyer, but as a person.

The creators of the show have teased that this transformation will not be temporary. It will reshape his character, which will stretch far beyond this one trial. Season five is expected to explore exactly how that change settles into his bones.

Season four is premiering on February 5th and will bring back Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the lead. He will be joined by Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson, and Cobie Smulders. And yes, the signature Lincoln Navigator rides again. But make no mistake, because this time, the Lincoln Lawyer that returns is not the same man we met back in season one. He has been betrayed and framed now.

It is rare to see a legal series push its protagonist this far, but then again, you’ve got to keep things interesting. But that’s not the only case with The Lincoln Lawyer because it has managed to be interesting through every twist. With season four promising an intense self-defence storyline and season five already under wraps, Mickey Haller’s journey is far from finished.

And if the renewal ahead of the release is any indication, Netflix knows they are holding something electric. February 5th cannot come soon enough.
