‘The Hunting Wives’ season two goes into production with confirmed returning cast

The Hunting Wives are officially returning to Netflix to brew twice the trouble they stirred up in the first season, and the cameras have already begun rolling for what’s to come.

The Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman-led series became a breakout hit over the summer, and now that the second season is finally in the works, fans can rest assured that Netflix will dial up the drama.

The eight-episode series, which will be exclusively released as a Netflix-branded show, is currently filming in the US. While Snow and Akerman were set for a comeback, the platform recently confirmed three more returning actors: Karen Rodriguez as Deputy Salazar, Hunter Emery as Deputy Flynn, and Branton Box as Sheriff Johnny – the first two return as series regulars in The Hunting Wives season two.

Also joining these returning characters is Akerman’s wig, which Netflix recently confirmed with a cheeky photo. The picture, shared by Netflix, shows three chairs on set, belonging to Snow, who portrays Sophie, Margo, played by Akerman, and, of course, Akerman’s brown wig. The returning characters also include Graham, Sophie’s husband, played by Evan Jonigkeit, Callie, Margo’s sidekick, portrayed by Jaime Ray Newman, and Brad, played by George Ferrier.

Akerman is a natural blonde who revealed that the hair they picked resembled more “Dallas or Dynasty” during the fitting, which then led the way for many other wigs used throughout the season. Although she teased the possibility of dying her hair instead of opting for a wig in season two, it looks like they’ve had a change of heart.

The Hunting Wives comes from Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment, which landed on Netflix despite being conceived as a Starz series. Set in a fictional East Texas town, the drama follows a Cambridge transplant, Sophie, whose arrival leads to her entanglement with the rich and the wealthy, making her the perfect fit for the decadent world of Margo, the wife of oil tycoon Jed Banks, and co.

The first season of the sultry Texan drama concluded with a cliffhanger and body bags one too many. The next instalment will serve as the continuation of the storyline from an original script. Executive Rebecca Cutter said to Tudum, “I’m so excited to write these amazing characters again. And I can’t wait to take the audience on another twisted, batshit crazy ride through Maple Brook.”

The Netflix logline for The Hunting Wives season two reads, “Sophie and Margo are on the outs. But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games, the question arises: are they the hunters or the hunted?” Whatever it may be, expect nothing less than designer drama!

While the rest of the details will surface with time, for now, you can stream The Hunting Wives season one on Netflix to make up for the blues.
