‘The Hunting Wives’ is officially returning with a second season
Netflix knows what you want. So, it’s giving you exactly what you wished for: The Hunting Wives season two!
Just when fans were least expecting Netflix to break the ice, the streaming giant renewed The Hunting Wives for a second season over the weekend. This means the sultry drama with its eccentric group of female rebels is poised for a comeback, armed with twice the dose of murder, mayhem, liquor, and guns.
In case you packed up your bulletproof jackets, take time out again because it’s going to get unusually chilly from here on. While you’re at it, save some room for Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman, who are confirmed to return with another round of immoral mess.
For the uninitiated, The Hunting Wives stars Snow as a Cambridge transplant who finds herself deep in the hot waters of the wealthy, immoral, and indulgent world of Margo, portrayed by Akerman, in East Texas, where sex and secrets lead to bloodshed and body bags.
But it’s not just these two lead actors who are returning to steal the show. Joining Snow and Akerman for round two are Jaime Ray Newman, Evan Jonigkeit, and George Ferrier, as Callie, Graham, and Brad, respectively.
The first season of The Hunting Wives had an infectious impact on Netflix’s streaming audience, resulting in a five-week stay on its global top ten English shows chart. It amassed over 20million views during its tenure, despite the show’s only availability in English. However, the influence was not simply limited to the streaming landscape.
Following The Hunting Wives’ release on Netflix, May Cobb’s 2021 novel, by which the series is originally inspired, saw a majestic upswing to number four on Amazon’s bestsellers list and number one on its list of women’s psychological fiction. Although the likelihood of the series returning for a second season was incredibly high, creator Rebecca Cutter played coy about the probability just a few days ago.
But speaking of the renewal, she said to Tudum, “I’m so excited to write these amazing characters again. And I can’t wait to take the audience on another sexy, twisted, batshit crazy ride through Maple Brook.” Netflix also provided an official logline, albeit a bit brief: “Sophie and Margo are on the outs. But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games, the question arises: Are they the hunters or the hunted?”.
Created by Cutter and produced by Lionsgate and 3 Arts Entertainment, The Hunting Wives is set to return with a second season as a Netflix-branded show.
