‘The Hangover’: the ultimate Saturday night movie

Friday is one of those days that feels unending. But once the night kicks in, so does a new fervour of energy when friends show up with wine, ready to dine. By the time Saturday begins, the workweek and liquor hangover chime in. But if you’re on Netflix, looking for a movie to make you feel better, thankfully, The Hangover is there to save the night.

Netflix most recently brought The Hangover trilogy to its US library, just in time for the festive mood. And what better day to relive the magic of the epic adventure movie than a Saturday night, knowing that you won’t have to get up early the next morning?

In case you’re planning on a marathon, the trilogy has you covered because when you start, we know how it is to stop at just one bite.

Directed by Todd Phillips, The Hangover is a comedy punch-fest starring the ever-iconic squad of Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, and Justin Bartha as Phil Weneck, Dr Stu Price, Alan Garner, and Doug Billings, respectively. It is the first instalment in the film series, which sees the dynamic crew travel to Las Vegas to celebrate a bachelor party which goes unimaginably wild.

The trip takes place in celebration of Doug’s impending marriage, and they book a suite in Caesars Palace. While they manage to sneak into the hotel rooftop to drink Jägermeister, the next day, when they wake up the next morning, they somehow all succumb to a memory loss, unable to recount the events of the night before.

But that, unfortunately, is not the only concern on their hand. Doug has disappeared, the suite is in real clutter, Stu’s tooth is missing, and to top all that off, a Bengal tiger is inside the washroom, and a baby is inside the closet.

Upon asking the valet for Doug’s Mercedes, which his fiancée’s father had lent for the trip, they are delivered a Las Vegas police cruiser. While the ride won’t give you the horsepower of Mercedes, perhaps, it surely launches them into a rollercoaster ride.

Saturday nights call for movies that scream no-brainer and non-stop fun. It’s the kind of chaos we don’t shut our doors on, but invite in with open arms. If you want to call in your friends as well, there couldn’t be a better pick than The Hangover to rely on.

From high-energy hilarity to comedy mystery, the mission to find the groom is not short of surprises. And the comic timing? It’s purely gold. The Hangover is easily one of the best modern comedies out there, which stands out as highly quotable. However, the comedy isn’t just in the dialogue. The comic factor oozes out of each and every aspect, making it the perfect cinematic gem for first-time viewers as well as those on repeat viewing.
