'The Gray Man' creators want Chris Evans to play this Marvel character

The Gray Man creators, the Russo brothers, namely Anthony and Joe Russo, have named the Marvel characters they would want Chris Evans to play.

Evans stars in their upcoming $200 million espionage action Netflix thriller alongside Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Rege-Jean Page, Billy Bob Thornton, Wagner Moura, Dhanush and other actors.

Based on Mark Greaney’s novel, the film revolves around a titular ex-CIA agent who is forced to be on the run after being pursued by a ruthless CIA operative, played by Evans who sports a distinguished moustache.

Evans is a popular Marvel alum. Previously seen as Johnny Storm and Human Torch in the Fantastic Four franchise, Evans soon became a household phenomenon with his role as Captain America.

Evans collaborated with the Russo brothers on the Avengers franchise, alongside Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johannson, Jeremy Renner and others.

When asked if they would like Evans to reprise another Marvel character from the Multiverse in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the filmmaking duo named Wolverine.

Joe Russo said, “Evans has incredible range and great physicality, and he’s real good at body control.” Joe also talked about how Chris has nothing in common with Steve Rogers aka Captain America.

He clarified his opinion by saying, “Steve Rogers is very controlled and quiet, understated. Chris is energetic and funny and charismatic, and he brings a lot of energy to set. I’d love to see him do something like Wolverine.”

Hugh Jackman has reprised the role of Wolverine in the X-Men franchise.

The Gray Man is scheduled to premiere on July 22nd, 2022.
