'The Gentlemen' full trailer arrives on Netflix

Guy Ritchie shares the full trailer ahead of his new Netflix series, The Gentlemen, based on his successful 2019 movie of the same name.

In the spin-off series, The White Lotus star Theo James portrays Eddie Horniman, an upper-class British man who inherits his father’s countryside mansion. He soon realises the shady operations of Ray Winstone’s Bobby Glass.

The official synopsis reads: “The Gentlemen sees Eddie Horniman unexpectedly inherit his father’s sizeable country estate – only to discover it’s part of a cannabis empire. Moreover, a host of unsavoury characters from Britain’s criminal underworld want a piece of the operation.”

“So to stop ourselves being associated with criminals, we are going to become criminals,” Horniman is heard stating in the new trailer. In the gritty plot, he then sets about attacking the business by teaming up with Susie Glass, portrayed by Kaya Scodelario, who runs the drug empire.

“I didn’t create this problem. I’m trying to help you deal with it,” Susie then tells Horniman as he becomes increasingly enveloped in the criminal underworld of drugs, money, violence and besuited “gentlemen”.

Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Giancarlo Esposito, Chanel Cresswell, and Peter Serafinowicz round out the star-studded cast of the Netflix series. Helmed by Ritchie, who serves as creator, co-writer, and executive producer, the series also sees him taking the director’s chair for the first two episodes.

The original 2019 movie was a star-studded affair featuring Hugh Grant, Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam and Colin Farrell. In a similar plot, the movie follows the story of an American man who gets embroiled in the complicated sale of a British drug empire.
