Developed by Andrew Kreisberg, Greg Berlanti and Geoff Johns, The CW show The Flash garnered a massive fan following after debuting in 2014. Based on the life of the DC Comics hero Flash, a costumed speedster known for having the power to run at superhuman speed, fighting criminals, the show shall be focused on the Barry Allen incarnation of the same. Allen, a crime-scene investigator, possesses superhuman speed after being exposed to a particle accelerator explosion which he uses to his advantage to fight the rampant crime and corruption in the city. While doing so, he must face various notorious and dangerous villains who shall pose serious threats to the peace and sanctity of his family as well as the entire city.
With actors like Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Rick Cosnett and more in significant roles, the show has become insanely popular due to their unique approach and had been started as a spin-off to the widely popular Arrow. When Gustin, who plays the titular character, was asked regarding how they manage to shoot such sequences, the man was honest in his reply. “We do a lot of plate shots that are empty shots of the area we’re going to be in and then they’re putting us in later in the post. I do a lot of the fighting,” he said, continuing: “I don’t have to do it full speed and then they ramp it up and a lot of people have to freeze and I keep moving. Then I have to clear the frame and step back into the frame. It’s really tedious stuff that we have to do. On theirs, they learn fight choreography and they shoot it from the perfect angles and what you see is what you get.”
The season has received better reviews with every passing season especially due to the fact that the creators have not strayed too far away from the comics and managed to retain the breezy and humorous essence that usually gets lost in adaptation.
