The five best series to binge on Netflix this weekend
Big Mistakes (Dan Levy and Rachel Sennott, 2026)
If you’re planning to kick-start your weekend marathon on a high note, the top pick from Netflix this week is undoubtedly Dan Levy’s Big Mistakes, which marks his second original scripted series, the first being the Emmy-winning sitcom Schitt’s Creek. The crime-comedy series, released on April 9th, promises to take viewers on a chaotic rollercoaster ride with a twisted family drama.
Big Mistakes follows two incredibly incompetent siblings who get entangled in the dangerous world of organised crime after getting blackmailed into it. The show focuses on a dysfunctional family in New Jersey, driven by the messy misadventures of the siblings – Nicky, a closeted community pastor and his sister Morgan, a reckless elementary school teacher – that make your own family dramas look normal.
Trust Me: The False Prophet (Rachel Dretzin, 2026)
Since its premiere on April 7th, Trust Me: The False Prophet has been drawing viewers in hordes. So, if you’re someone who managed to catch up on the buzz but failed to watch the four-part docu-series on weekdays, squeeze it into your weekend watchlist without a second thought. The Netflix documentary follows cult expert Christina Marie and her videographer husband, Tolga Katas, who infiltrates the inner circle of Samuel Bateman, a self-proclaimed FLDS successor of Warren Jeffs.
Gaining Bateman’s trust, Marie and Katas documented his series of crimes and the exploitation of minors as well as adults of an already fragmented community, hoping to unmask his true face. Trust Me: The False Prophet features never-before-seen footage captured by the duo and a first-hand account from survivors, who chose to open up about Bateman’s rise and his streak of wrongdoings, leading to his eventual arrest and sentencing.
Bloodhounds (Jason Kim, 2023-2026)
Likewise, although the second season of Bloodhounds premiered in the first week of April, those who are yet to catch up, there’s no better time than the weekend to do so. The follow-up season of the hit South Korean boxing revenge saga picks up three years later, spiralling into a far more brutal world of an underground international boxing league.
After taking down the loan sharks in the debut season of Bloodhounds, Gun-woo feels more ready than ever to make his dream of becoming a boxing champion come true. Lucky for him, now he has Woo-jin as his coach and found family by his side. Together, they will battle a new foe who prioritises power and money over everything else. So, there’s no room for slacking as the pair needs to fight to protect everything they love.
XO, Kitty (Jenny Han, 2023-Present)
Kitty Covey Song returned to the Korean International School of Seoul (KISS) in the third season of XO, Kitty, with the onset of April. However, if you’re late to school by habit, there’s a rom-com homework to do this weekend. The latest season of the Netflix series sees Kitty ready to check everything on her Senior Sunset list, with everything meticulously mapped out.
She plans to decide where to apply for college, make more meaningful memories with friends, grow closer to her relatives in Korea, and, most importantly, define her relationship with Min Ho. But just because Kitty has everything planned, does it all go according to her plan? Well, that’s for you to find, as the third season of XO, Kitty is streaming and trending on Netflix.
Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen (Haley Z Boston, 2026)
Lastly, for a complete palate cleanser, Netflix also has a fresh horror-mystery series from creator Haley Z Boston, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. While there’s still time until pumpkin season, this serves as the perfect off-season dish to end a weekend watchlist, if you’re seeking the cosy and crazy at once. The Netflix series unfolds over a week, following Rachel and Nicky in the lead-up to their wedding.
But just as the day draws close for the two to exchange vows, they’re confronted and haunted by their own questions about commitment. Although that’s bad enough for a couple who are days away from tying the knot, what Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen catches viewers off guard with is a horror twist beyond imagination. Buckle up for a bloody curveball.
