The five best series to stream on Netflix this weekend
Finding Her Edge (Shamim Sarif and Jacqueline Pepall, 2026)
If you’re looking for a romance drama on Netflix to watch this weekend, Finding Her Edge might just be the answer to your search. The limited series, already boasting a whopping 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, follows Adriana Russo, who left behind her dream of ice skating when her gold medalist mother passed away two years ago. Although she hung up her skates, the skills never faded. So, when she gets a chance to carry forward her family’s Olympic legacy, she seizes the opportunity.
While Adriana also hopes this would save their financially drowning ice rink, the biggest challenge to her new journey is that she cannot turn back to her old dancing partner, AKA her first love, Freddie. Turns out that when she shut down on her dreams, she also bailed on the relationship. Finding Her Edge follows Adriana as she pairs up with the cocky bad boy of ice skating, Brayden, to give another shot at her lifelong dream while navigating a complex chapter of a love triangle when Freddie shows up with his new partner to train at her ice rink.
How to Get to Heaven from Belfast (Michael Lennox, 2026)
In case you’re someone who cringes at the idea of love and, by default, Valentine’s Day, Netflix has just the comedy thriller for your escape this weekend: How to Get to Heaven from Belfast. Coming from the Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee, this eight-episode series on Netflix follows three eccentric childhood friends – Saoirse, Robyn, and Dara – who are now in their 30s.
While love may (or may not) fade with time, this trio remains stronger than ever. How to Get to Heaven from Belfast tells the story of this close-knit group of friends who embark on their most ambitious adventure yet after receiving an email informing them about the death of the fourth estranged member of their childhood gang. As they arrive at her wake, a series of ominous, unexplained events sets them off on a hilarious journey through Ireland, while they try to find the truth about their past.
Can This Love Be Translated? (Yoo Young-eun, 2026)
Love has a way of finding you in the most unexpected places, and Can This Love Be Translated? chronicles one such love story. The South Korean romance drama on Netflix revolves around a prolific polyglot interpreter, Joo Ho-jin, who, despite his hold over multiple languages, has barely put words to his own emotions. So, when he accepts a new job as an interpreter for a reality dating show, he doesn’t think of it much, until he comes across Cha Mu-hee, a woman he once met on a trip to Japan.
The first time they met, Mu-hee was an underappreciated actor, but since that meeting, a lot has changed for her. Now, at the peak of her stardom, she’s brought on the show alongside Japanese actor Hiro to travel to the world’s most romantic destinations. Can This Love Be Translated? follows Ho-jin as he works as their translator on the show. But while translating the language of love for Hiro and Mu-hee, he somehow falls in love with the latter, complicating the whole situation.
Unfamiliar (Paul Coates, 2026)
For those still diabolical about taking a chance at love, let’s unwind with a gritty espionage thriller that will swap the butterflies with high-stakes adrenaline, Unfamiliar. The six-episode spy thriller tells the story of married couple Simon and Meret Schafer, who run a safe house in Berlin. One night, as they celebrate their daughter’s 16th birthday, they receive an anonymous call from a man who claims to be injured and in urgent need of their assistance.
While it’s not an oddball request, given that they run a safe house, something doesn’t sit right with them as they realise the man’s injuries are self-made and his behaviour is completely off the rails. Little do they know that the person who sent the man is a high-ranking Russian military intelligence officer. But the Schafers know one thing for sure: even though the man refuses to ID himself, he mentions a dangerous mission from 16 years ago, involving none other than the military intelligence officer, which is a spell for trouble.
HIS & HERS (Dee Johnson, 2026)
To end the weekend marathon, we have a Netflix thriller that might just intrigue both parties. But yes, don’t drop a thriller for your girl when she’s expecting a mushy romance escape. Although not inherently a love story, HIS & HERS does portray the complexities of love against the backdrop of a series of crimes that make the series protagonists, Jack and Anna, reunite with each other despite years of estrangement.
Set in Atlanta, Anna and Jack’s relationship has been marred by a tragedy they have yet to get over. As they both try to rebuild their lives and careers, a murder in Anna’s hometown pulls her back into action. Something convinces Anna that the crimes have an unseen tie to her past, which she refuses to acknowledge, but with Jack as the lead investigator, things aren’t exactly going in her favour. HIS & HERS follows the duo as they carry on their own respective investigations, slowly succumbing to the ghosts of the past they thought they had left behind.
