The five best horror comedy flicks to watch this Halloween

Just because Halloween calls for the spooks, it doesn’t mean Netflix cannot make the marathons a fun one. As you’d know already, not every ghost aims to spread spine-chilling horror in nth number of body bags and skeletons hanging from the backyard tree. Some just want to make friends or love to keep up with the mischief in the afterlife.

It’s definitely another thing that not everyone can make peace with friendly or funny spirits. But Netflix, at least, doesn’t deny their existence.

So, just in case you’re tired of Halloween suggestions that only bring nightmares on their coattails, take some time out to stream the five best comedy flicks this pumpkin season.

They might not leave you trembling in terror, but the screams and laughs are a must. Hence, for those seeking light-hearted scares and a lot more giggles, light up this Halloween with the funny side of pumpkin carvings.

The five best horror comedy flicks to binge this Halloween

Dead Talents Society (John Hsu, 2024)

Some horror movies make you feel like the afterlife is a totally boring place to be, and Dead Talents Society is a living, or dead, proof. The Taiwanese horror comedy revolves around a novice ghost who goes on a mission to find her own individuality under the custody of an over-and-done diva and a passionate agent.

The reason? Well, Dead Talents Society takes place in an underworld where spirits can lurk around in the mortal world, motivated by a competition to spook humans.

Little Evil (Eli Craig, 2017)

It’s not easy to make peace with a family with a past, especially if someone’s new stepson is Antichrist in disguise. Little Evil is a supernatural horror comedy with a mythic spin, currently streaming on Netflix. It revolves around a man whose suspicion about his new stepson goes from a bit menacing to pure evil.

Upon further investigation, he comes to discover that his stepson is an Antichrist, and to save the world from him, he might have to put an end to him. While the crux might leave you worried, don’t fret, because this flick is definitely not without some funny bones.

Prevenge (Alice Lowe, 2016)

If horror movies have taught us anything, it’s that not every kid is innocent. But in Prevenge, the vessel of carnage is a foetus. Unbelievable, right? The comedy slasher film follows a heavily pregnant widow who believes her foetus is coercing her to go on a streak of murders to seek revenge from those involved in her husband’s accident.

FYI, the husband was disengaged from the rest of his group during a climbing trail, resulting in a fatal accident, which now influences his wife’s actions.

Vampires vs the Bronx (Oz Rodriguez, 2020)

We have all seen vampires in movies, and mostly, it doesn’t end well for the mortals. Although any normal teenager would keep away in such situations, the kids in Vampires vs the Bronx shoulder the responsibility to save the neighbourhood in the Bronx from these teeth-sinking supernatural entities.

But unlike normal vampires, the ones plaguing the town are actually disguised as real estate agents who serve as a threat to other businesses. While otherworldly threats are of many kinds, Vampires vs the Bronx truly takes the comedy cake.

Heart Eyes (Josh Ruben, 2025)

Romance and horror may not feel like genres that can be clubbed together. But leave it to Heart Eyes to surprise you with the unlikely. The horror comedy streaming on Netflix revolves around an unwilling advertising professional and a freelancer who have to work together on Valentine’s Day.

Just when they thought it couldn’t get any worse, the fight for survival begins when a masked serial killer goes on a rampage to hunt the pair, assuming they are a couple, unaware that they are merely just working professionals.
